Where to get your Nags Head 50th souvenirs

By on June 5, 2011

As the Town of Nags Head nears the culmination of its 50th Anniversary celebration, we want to remind our readers of the many souvenir items for sale at Town Hall and various local merchants.

The town is offering T-shirts, coozies, stickers and a commemorative cookbook.

Many visitors are expected to attend the carnival to be held at the old Windmill Point restaurant location June 14 to 18.

50th Anniversary T's are in a variety of colors.

Tee shirts are available at Kitty Hawk Kites and Town Hall. Stickies, Coozies and Flags are also available at Town Hall.

The cookbook, entitled “Fifty Years and Still Cookin,” is already in its second printing. Over 300 recipes submitted by locals and visitors are included. Many are traditional coastal and southern specialties, such as Nags Head mayor Bob Oakes “Ginger Venison,” Budgie Sadler’s “Garlic Grits,” and well as concoctions such as broiled bluefish and shrimp and crabmeat casserole.

Locals aren’t just tied to our geography, however so you will find Caribbean, Mexican, and and Florida-inspired dishes. Tim Walters, former owner of Seamark, shares his conch fritter recipe, and there’s even a curry chicken salad for those in love with food from the Indian Ocean rim.

You can purchase the cookbooks from Bear Drugs, the Blue Moon restaurant, Cahoon’s grocery, the Cottage Shop at the Outer Banks Mall, the Cotton Gin in Nags Head, the Farmer’s Daughter (Nags Head), the Foxy Flamingo, Gray’s Department Store (Kitty Hawk), Jewelry by Gail (Nags Head-Gallery Row), JRSP Gift Shop, Manteo Bookseller, Kelly’s Restaurant, Mulligan’s, the Nags Head Fishing Pier, Outer Banks Fishing Pier and its Tackle Unlimited location, Roanoke Island Festival Park Gift Shop and Town Hall.
