Outdoor children’s film fest set for Windmill Point

Children at Play, the Outer Banks Children’s Museum is putting on outdoor movies in Nags Head at the old Windmill Point site every Friday for the next month.

Admission is free, with a $5 parking fee. The movie nights are fund raisers for the Children’s Museum, a 501(c)3 charity.

This event is partially sponsored by The Outer Banks Visitor’s Bureau, but each night has an additional sponsor as well.

Gates open at 7 p.m. and the movies will start around dusk. The site is just north of Whalebone Junction on U.S. 158.

The first movie, “Madagascar” will air Aug. 17. “A Dolphin Tale” follows on Aug. 24, “The Lorax” on Aug. 31 and “Wizard of Oz” on September 7.

Event sponsors are First Bank, Kitty Hawk Kites, Miller’s Restaurant and Outer Banks Child Magazine.
