Firefighters from multiple departments battled a fire at the Super Wings store in Duck this morning.
The fire was reported around 7:20 a.m. in the 1100 block of Duck Road, which was closed in both directions.
Traffic was being detoured around the scene using side streets, and travelers on N.C. 12 in both directions were delayed up to 30 minutes.
The building was engulfed, and firefighters were taking defensive measures only.
Crews were still on the scene at noon trying to extinguish hot spots in the front of the building.
There is a second floor apartment accessible by a stairway on the north side of the building, but it was being used for storage.
Winds, sustained at 21 mph, were also hampering efforts in fighting the blaze.
