Rep. Bob Steinburg named to regional marine fisheries panel

steinburgGov. Pat McCory has appointed a local member of the state House of Representatives and a former Carteret County commissioner to the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission.

Rep. Bob Steinburg and W. Douglas Brady were named recently to serve on the panel that represents the interests and needs of east coast marine fisheries, promotes better utilization of the fisheries and develops programs for promotion and protection of such fisheries, according to a news release from the governor’s office.

Steinburg, a Republican from Edenton, is in his second term representing the 1st district which includes Camden, Chowan, Currituck, Pasquotank, Perquimans and Tyrrell counties.

Brady was the owner of a commercial fishing business for over 25 years. He has served on numerous boards, the South Atlantic Fisheries Management Council Advisory Board, the Morehead City Planning Board and the Seafood Industrial Park Commission. Brady is also a former Carteret County Commissioner and served as Chairman for three years.

The commission represents the interests and needs of marine fisheries on the east coast, promotes better utilization of the fisheries and develops programs for promotion and protection of such fisheries, according to a statement from the governor’s office.
