The N.C. Department of Transportation will hold an informal public meeting on Thursday at Kill Devil Hills town hall on a $13 million project to make improvements to Colington Road starting in late 2017 or early 2018.

Proposed plans for the project include making several improvements at various locations along Colington Road such as repaving, widening lanes, raising the road to reduce flooding, widening shoulders for bicycle and pedestrian access and adding a turn lane near U.S. 158.

The approximately $13 million project is currently scheduled for right of way acuisition in Fiscal Year 2017 and construction in FY 2018.

The public meeting will take place from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. in the Commissioners Meeting Room at the Kill Devil Hills Town Hall, located at 102 Town Hall Drive.

NCDOT representatives will be available during the open-house style meeting to provide information, answer questions and collect comments regarding the proposed project. Citizens are welcome to attend at any time during the meeting hours, as there will not be a formal presentation. Comments can be submitted until Saturday, Oct. 17.
