Description:
The WIE House, resting on the sound in a maritime forest, built of repurposed and reclaimed materials, with its small footprint, allows its occupants to enjoy and focus on the outdoor lifestyle treasured on the Outer Banks.
The owner of The WIE House found in Outer Banks Renovation LLC a relationship which allowed him to fulfill his goal of building a home that was in and of the Outer Banks. A conceptually different alternative that would be impressive to locals and visitors to the area.
Smaller is the big idea. Repurposed material removed from the Old Beacon Motel in Nags Head, numerous tear-downs, logs and materials from the lot itself, and reclaimed lumber from around the area were incorporated in the construction process. The goal was to create a home that, although small, has the soul of historical significance and connection to the Outer Banks that can be felt by everyone who has the pleasure of experiencing its shaded porches.
