Students and staff at Hatteras Elementary were pleased with the supplies donated by the Outer Banks Chamber.

The Outer Banks Chamber of Commerce recently held a successful school supply drive for Hatteras and Ocracoke schools.

“I saw a Facebook post from a teacher worried about getting supplies for the school year, and sent out a request to all Chamber members,” said Karen Brown, Chamber president.

Chamber members responded in a big way. The lobby of the Outer Banks Chamber of Commerce on Town Hall Drive was filled with pens, pencils, notebooks and more for the children, as well as needed supplies for the schools.

On Friday, Aug. 25, Chamber staff delivered the supplies to Hatteras Elementary and Ocracoke School in a bus provided by Chamber member Dianne Denny of Spring Arbor. The students and the schools were very happy to receive all the supplies, Brown said.

The Chamber of Commerce thanks its members for their generosity for the children.
