The Kitty Hawk Town Council agreed at their Feb. 5 meeting to launch a pilot program that increases the number of large item pick-ups from two to four times in 2018.

Upcoming pickups are scheduled for May 21, September 24, and November 19. Residents should place their items in the right-of-way for collection.

Items that can be collected include furniture, mattresses, & box springs, old tires (no rims or commercial tires, appliances (refrigerators should have doors removed), scrap metals, electronics and waste motor oil in a motor oil container.

Items that will not be collected are household garbage, hot tubs and covers, vegetative debris (branches, yard clippings, etc.) which will be picked up on a separate date, hazardous materials such as paint, solvents, pesticides, herbicides, gasoline, home remodeling/construction debris and glass items like sliding doors, windows, mirrors, etc.
