Forrest Seal LLC
119 Charles Jenkins W. Lane, Ocean Crest, Duck
2,500 square feet
4 Bedrooms, 4 Baths, 1 Half Bath
$575,000 includes House & Pool

This beautiful house is a second home for the Thompson family. It is a Florez Design Studios modification of their Buxton Bay house plan. It features an accent metal roof for the covered entry with a combination of natural red cedar shakes and board and batten siding with PVC trim. The decking is pressure-treated lumber as well as Azek composite boards with white Southern Vinyl railings.

In the side yard, you will find a kidney-shaped fiberglass pool. The remainder of the property has landscape features that are indigenous to the area requiring no irrigation.

Upon entry, you find custom trim work throughout the interior including wainscoting, window and door trim details, built in lockers and entertainment center and ship lap accents. The flooring consists of field finished oak, tile, and LVT. The cabinetry is a white shaker design with quartz tops. In addition to these features, you will find lighting, furniture, and artwork chosen by the owners.

Compass Edge Construction Inc.
17 Thirteenth Ave., Southern Shores

This 1,500 square foot beach box, built in 1980, had great bones but was in need of some TLC!  We started by closing in the ground floor, allowing for a two-car garage and at the same time creating plenty of storage area.

On the exterior, we installed new Grayne vinyl siding, all new Anderson windows and doors, new decks with Trex decking and Tram-rail rail systems and a new metal roof.  On the interior, we added new oak hardwoods throughout, new custom kitchen and wet bar with granite counter tops, heated tile floors in the baths and new LED lighting throughout.

Additionally, we removed all the outdated “popcorn” ceilings and added a new gas fireplace with a custom mantle. For the finishing touch, we converted the screen porch into a welcoming sunroom.  This house is truly a Must SEE!

It is our pleasure to recognize and thank our team of vendors and subcontractors who were part of this project. OBHBA Member companies include ABC Supply Co., Burton Window & Door, Ferguson Enterprises, Guy C Lee Building Materials, Grayhound Electric, Harmony Cabinets, Home Solutions of Carolina, Interiors by H & W, Island Concrete Pools & Spas, Outer Banks Heating & Cooling, and Sherwin Williams.

Neal Contracting Group Inc. T/A Neal Contracting
163 Wax Myrtle Trail, Southern Shores
2,600 square feet
4 Bedrooms, 3 Baths, 1 Half Bath
$675,000 includes House & Lot Only

Nearly 70 years ago, Frank Stick purchased 2,600 acres of land, and fervently constructed small beachside bungalows of his own design.  Representative of the modernist trend of the time, these iconic structures became “Flattops.”

Fewer and fewer remain today. The Dunetop harkens back to these indigenous Outer Banks designs of Southern Shores.  Sweeping overhangs, woven-corner lap siding, and a blend of Brazilian Walnut emphasize the strong horizontal presence of the home.  Inside, local salvaged cypress beams, and juniper tongue and groove share the space with contemporary walnut cabinetry, quartz counters, subtle tile tones, and White Oak flooring, completing the hand-hewn feel our craftsman worked tirelessly to create.

While taking its design cues from the past, The Dunetop shirks none of its responsibility show-casing new building technology, featuring an inverter Bosch heat pump with Trane ERV, closed cell spray foam insulation, Home Automation and Security System, and one of our favorite features: not one lightbulb, due to the integrated LED lighting.  Open concept living, at its best, we invite you to see this one level, handicap-accessible permanent residence, and share in our take on an Outer Banks legacy design.

We are pleased to acknowledge and thank our team of vendors and subcontractors who provided us with their finest materials and workmanship, especially OBHBA members:  All Star Insulation, Ferguson Enterprises, FullTilt Blinds & Shutters, Green Acres Land Development, Greg White Plumbing, Guy C Lee Building Materials, Home Solutions of Carolina, Interiors by H & W, Jon Boy’s Building Services, John Brothers Security, Kellogg Supply Co., Kitty Hawk Painting,  MP Carpentry, Noland Company, Saltwater Metals, Stephen Perlot Electric and Wise Flooring.

Rachel and Matt Neal comprise Neal Contracting, continuing a family building heritage on the Outer Banks that extends back to 1979.  Matt learned the home building business from the ground up, first working as a subcontractor, followed by starting his own contracting company in 2006.

Matt thrives on working with his team of professionals, and is always at home on the job, leading from the field.  Always available by phone or email, Rachel Neal provides the core support to the company, managing client communication, finish selections, cost control, vendor relationships, and key design advice. Together, they work as a tight-knit team with complementing skills to deliver a finely constructed home and continued client satisfaction.
