This beautiful house is a second home for the Thompson family. It is a Florez Design Studios modification of their Buxton Bay house plan. It features an accent metal roof for the covered entry with a combination of natural red cedar shakes and board and batten siding with PVC trim. The decking is pressure-treated lumber as well as Azek composite boards with white Southern Vinyl railings.
In the side yard, you will find a kidney-shaped fiberglass pool. The remainder of the property has landscape features that are indigenous to the area requiring no irrigation.
Upon entry, you find custom trim work throughout the interior including wainscoting, window and door trim details, built in lockers and entertainment center and ship lap accents. Description
This 1,500 square foot beach box, built in 1980, had great bones but was in need of some TLC! We started by closing in the ground floor, allowing for a two-car garage and at the same time creating plenty of storage area.
On the exterior, we installed new Grayne vinyl siding, all new Anderson windows and doors, new decks with Trex decking and Tram-rail rail systems and a new metal roof. On the interior, we added new oak hardwoods throughout, new custom kitchen and wet bar with granite counter tops, heated tile floors in the baths and new LED lighting throughout.
Additionally, we removed all the outdated “popcorn” ceilings and added a new gas fireplace with a custom mantle. For the finishing touch, we converted the screen porch into a welcoming sunroom. This house is truly a Must SEE!

Nearly 70 years ago, Frank Stick purchased 2,600 acres of land, and fervently constructed small beachside bungalows of his own design. Representative of the modernist trend of the time, these iconic structures became “Flattops.”
Fewer and fewer remain today. The Dunetop harkens back to these indigenous Outer Banks designs of Southern Shores. Sweeping overhangs, woven-corner lap siding, and a blend of Brazilian Walnut emphasize the strong horizontal presence of the home.
