Open to the Public: REALTOR®Fest & Tech Fair Coming October 30th

Mark your calendars for October 30th, 2019 for the Outer Banks Association of REALTORS® REALTOR®Fest & Tech Fair being held at R/C Kill Devil Hills Movie Theatre. This fun, full-day expo combines networking, professional development, and more—all under one roof. And this year the event is open to the public, so presentations and vendors are for REALTORS®, OBX locals and business owners, and visitors.

Tyler Helms of Helms Creative Studio

Vendors will be throughout the lobby and hallway of the theatre, and informational presentations will be held in theatres 5, 6, and 7.  Keynote speakers include Mark Saunders of Real Estate Brokers Academy, Tyler Helms of Helms Creative Studio, 2019 National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) Convention & Expo speaker, Holly Pasut of, and Nobu Hata, NAR Member Engagement Director, and creator of the popular podcast “The Takeaway with Nobu Hata”. Mark will discuss safety tips and tricks for Google and other social media outlets. Tyler will teach you how to make and edit attractive, eye-catching videos. Holly, known for sharing her story after being imprisoned on mortgage fraud charges, will give her presentation, “8 Critical Thinking Errors”. Nobu will discuss the six ways real estate is changing. Other presentations from over a dozen speakers will be held throughout the day and range from social media and marketing tips to information regarding podcasts, cyber security, self-defense, bed bugs and more.

Admission is $30.00 for OBAR Members, and $50.00 for Non-Members. The admission fee includes presentations, vendor time, breakfast by Stack ‘em High, popcorn, boxed lunch by Cafe Lachine, drink, coffee from Ashley’s Espresso Parlour, and a raffle ticket. Dare County Animal Shelter

Sealed bids for completion of the Dare County Animal Shelter will be received on February 11, 2020, in the Dare County Administration Building, 954 Marshall C. Collins Drive, Manteo, NC, for 01-Fencing, 03- Concrete, 04-Masonry, 05-Metals/ Steel, 06-Casework, 07-Roofing, 07-Caulking, 08-Glass and Glazing, 08-Doors, Frames and Hardware, 08-Overhead Doors, 09-Drywall, 09-Flooring, 09-Painting, 10- Specialties, 12-Furnishings, 21-Fire Protection, 23-Mechanical & Plumbing, 26-Electrical, 31-Sitework and 32-Landscaping.

This project will be bid and awarded in accordance with North Carolina law. Sealed proposals from Contractors will be received until 1:00 p.m. All bidders must submit for prequalification by 2:00pm on 2/3/2020. Bids submitted by non-prequalified bidders will not be considered. All bids will be opened and read aloud starting at 2:00 p.m. of the bid day. Bids must be delivered in person and on the supplied Bid Form and include a bid deposit worth 5% of the total bid value. Electronic and faxed bids will NOT be accepted or reviewed. All times are local prevailing times.

The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company and Dare County reserve the right to reject any and all bids, waive informalities and irregularities in bidding, and to accept bids which are considered to be in the best interest of the County. Gen. Stat. 143-129.
