Man arrested for threatening Nags Head’s PD

The town of Nags Head reports that an Elizabeth City man has been arrested for threating Nags Head’s police department.

Keith Brown, 42, called the Dare County Sheriff’s Office 911 Communications Center on Tuesday, Oct. 8, at about 11:30 p.m., and threatened the use of firearms and military weaponry against the Nags Head Police Department. In addition, Brown also demanded a cash payment.

Additional security precautions were in place at Town offices and fire stations until Brown was arrested on Wednesday, Oct. 9 in Elizabeth City. He was charged with four offenses related to the threats, including communicating threats and extortion, and was transported to the Dare County Detention Center with a $610,000 bond.

Brown has been arrested in the past by the department.
