On September 30, College of The Albemarle (COA) Foundation and Twiddy & Company Realtors signed a Memorandum of Understanding to create an annual scholarship called the “Candis R. Richardson Memorial Scholarship.”

The scholarship, established with a gift of $2,000, will provide funds for a COA student enrolled in courses with a strong emphasis on business, management, analytics and/or entrepreneurship, while maintaining a 3.0 GPA.

Clark Twiddy, Chief Administrative Officer for Twiddy & Company Realtors, shared that the scholarship, named after former employee, Candis Richardson, was a fitting tribute to a person who was well loved within the company.  Ms. Richardson passed away in 2015 after a courageous fight with breast cancer.  “As a business, we’ve only ever been successful for one simple reason – the people we get to work alongside,” said Clark Twiddy.  “Candis was a remarkable and courageous lady.  We hope to honor her legacy and values by continuing to support COA’s focus on great outcomes for great students.”

“Twiddy & Company has been a valued advocate of COA and its programs through their support of the Hospitality Leadership program and now through the establishment of the Candis R. Richardson Memorial Scholarship,” stated Amy Alcocer, Executive Director, COA Foundation.  “The Foundation is excited to have Clark Twiddy as a member of the Board of Directors and through this scholarship, students will have the opportunity to embark upon an education that will lead to new employment opportunities.”
