DECEMBER 3-5 | Theatre of Dare
We’ve got two great shows ready to kick off 2020, and we’ll be casting both of them during the first week of December!
We’re going to need five people (3 women, 2 men) for the smart, clever relationship comedy BECKY SHAW, and at least 30 people (men, women, and a talented 10-15 year-old boy) for principal, supporting, and ensemble roles in the big, brassy Broadway musical MAME.
Auditions will be going on simultaneously at the Manteo Public Library (BECKY SHAW) and at the Lost Colony Administration Building (MAME), so why not try out for one or both of them? We’ll also be looking for backstage help as well, so come on out and join in the fun that is a Theatre of Dare production!
BECKY SHAW is an amusing and cleverly constructed comedy about ambition, the cost of being truthful and the perils of a blind date. The fast and funny dialogue navigates between five distinctively perverse and disingenuously dysfunctional characters.
DIRECTOR: Daniel Ziegler
CASTING: 3 women, 2 men.
AUDITIONS: December 3-4-5, 7-9 p.m. at the Manteo Public Library, 700 U.S. 64, Manteo.
SHOW DATES: January 10, 11, 12, 17, 18, and 19.
MAME is the hit Broadway musical about a woman whose eccentric, bohemian lifestyle is interrupted when her late brother’s son is entrusted to her care. Rather than adapt to societal standards about child-rearing, money-making and romance, Mame does everything with her own funny flair. It’s a brassy, tuneful, hilarious and touching adaptation of Patrick Dennis’ bestselling book, Auntie Mame.
DIRECTOR: Stuart Parks II
CASTING: At least 30 people, including principals, supporting roles, and ensemble. We are also on the lookout for one talented 10-15 year-old boy to play the role of pre-teen Patrick Dennis.
AUDITIONS: December 3-4-5, 7-9 p.m. at the Lost Colony Administration Building, right next door to the Elizabethan Gardens.
SHOW DATES: February 21, 22, 23, 28, 29 and March 1.
