Dennis and Dianna Mueller, Jim Lambright and Keaton Wescott were busy on the morning of Sunday Nov. 3 preparing the legendary Outer Banks Christmas House for another season of spreading holiday cheer.

Jim Poulos and his late wife, Ann, have been hosting the spectacular Christmas display at their home on Ocean Acres Drive for 40 years, drawing thousands of visitors from near and far as well as earning national recognition. Last Christmas was the first one without Ann, but as Jim Poulos explained, she made her Christmas wishes known before she passed away.

“She didn’t say ‘promise me,’” he recounted. “She said ‘you’re going to do it.’”

This year’s display is scheduled to light up on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 28, at dusk.
