Power has been restored after a relatively brief outage hit Hatteras Island and Ocracoke Island around midnight, according to Cape Hatteras Electric Cooperative.
Posting on Facebook, the Cooperative explained that “island-wide blinks” in transmission service were reported at around 11 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 16. About an hour later, it announced that all of Hatteras and Ocracoke Island had lost power. An early morning post, at 2:15 a.m., advised residents that power was restored after crews worked to replace a failed insulator on the transmission system.
Meanwhile, as of 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 17, Dominion Energy was reporting that less than 100 customers (95) in Dare County were without power.
