A “Baby Shower” for the Baby LINKS Program at the Dare County Department of Health & Human Services, was hosted by NC Delta Alpha, a chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa, an International Honorary Teaching Organization on Monday, Nov. 4, 2019.

Baby LINKS (Loving Infants, Newborns & Kids) is a collaborative effort funded by a Smart Start grant through the Children and Youth Partnership of Dare County and administered by the Dare County Department of Health & Humans Services.  The Baby LINKS program works to support every new mother and her newborn from birth to age one in Dare County by empowering them to be healthy, secure, and ready for success.

Jill Liverman, RN, Baby LINKS nurse, provides free home visits to new mothers and infants and parenting support and education.  Nursing assessments of the mother and newborn with follow up contact as needed or requested by the family or physician along with breastfeeding support and education are also provided.  Baby LINKS also offers a telephone helpline for non-emergency questions and referrals as well as coordination of services and referrals to community resources as needed.

“Because of this gracious generosity, many families will be blessed,” commented Liverman.  “We are so fortunate to have the wonderful support from Alpha Delta Kappa.”
