Applications for Low-Income Energy Assistance are being accepted starting Dec. 2

Dare County Health and Human Services

Households in Dare County containing a person aged 60 or more, or someone receiving disability benefits and services through the NC Division of Aging and Adult Services can apply for help covering the cost of heating their homes starting December 2, 2019. All households can apply from January 2, 2020 through March 31, 2020.

Households that meet the following criteria may be eligible:

  • Have at least one U.S. citizen or non-citizen who meets the eligibility criteria.

  • Meet an income test.

  • Have reserves at or below $2,250.

  • Be responsible for its heating costs.

Dare County households who want to apply for energy assistance can only do so in person at the Dare County Department of Health & Human Services’ Division of Social Services office locations in Manteo and Frisco.
