The body of one of two men missing after a commercial fishing vessel capsized in the Pamlico Sound on Jan. 7 was located late last week, according to news reports.
The Coast Guard was able to initially rescue two of the four crew members on the 43-foot vessel Papa’s Girl, out of Engelhard. One of the victims was later pronounced dead at the Sentara Albemarle Medical Center and the search for the two missing mariners was suspended on Jan. 9.
But a Jan. 14 story by WITN reported that the body of Keyron Davis was found in the sound on the morning of Jan. 10.
The story identified the man who died in the hospital last week as Floyd Gibbs and said the second man initially rescued, Ben Poe, has been released from the hospital.
The one crew member still missing is Sammy Douglas.
