Happy 150th Anniversary to Dare County! KDH celebrates its rich history

Throughout 2020, the County will proudly celebrate its history, people, nature, businesses, culture, and services.

These photo collages have us reminiscing about moments in the County and Kill Devil Hills’ rich history, while we’re looking forward to a promising future.

KDH is situated in the near geographic middle of the northern Dare County beaches. We are the largest municipality in Dare County and have a year-round population of over 7,200 people. KDH was incorporated in 1953.

Dare County has planned a 150th Anniversary Celebration event at Island Farm on Saturday, May 2, 2020, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Roanoke Island. This free, family-friendly event will celebrate the life and times of the area in the late 1800s.
