Local high school wrestlers headed to state tourney

After this weekend’s Regionals competition, area high schools will be sending their top wrestlers to the North Carolina State Championships to be held from Feb. 20-22 at the Greensboro Coliseum.


Manteo High School

Dylan Polatty, (far left), is going to the State Championship from Manteo.

Manteo High will be represented by freshman Dylan Polatty, who will compete in the 1A State Championships at 145 lbs.


First Flight High School

Going to the State Championship from First Flight are Reagan Riddick, Jack Hawbaker, Milosz Gargol and Blake Austin.

First Flight will send four wrestlers to the 2A States. They are freshman Reagan Riddick (who recently won the 120-pound championship in the NCHSAA Women’s Wrestling Invitational Tournament) at 113 lbs., freshman Blake Austin at 106, and two sophomores – Milosz Gargol at 160 lbs. and Jack Hawbaker, at 145 lbs.


Currituck High School

Going to the State Championship from Currituck are Noah Walker, Trent Walker and Samuel Hodge.

These wrestlers representing Currituck High in the 2A competition are Samuel Hodge, 120 lbs., Trent Walker, 160 lbs., and Noah Walker, 132 lbs.
