Rosa “Rose” Price Scarborough, 86, of Avon, met with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, as she passed peacefully in her sleep on March 6, 2020 in her home with her family by her side.

A “Kinnakeet” native, Rose was the daughter of Pastor Alvin and Edna Price.

Rose was best known for her sweet spirit, love for family and others, cooking the best Sunday meal around, and most of all, her never-failing love for Jesus.

Rose was the beloved mother of four surviving daughters: Karen Midgette of Buxton, Marilyn Bernauer of Morehead City, Amy Scarborough of Avon, Candice Quidley of Buxton, and was preceded in death by her daughter Lori Younce of Avon. Rose was also preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Celestial “Maxton” Scarborough.

Rose is survived by nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, all of whom she treated like her own.

Rose is survived by her sister and best friend, Nita Price Miller, and preceded in death by her other four siblings: Alvin Price, Eula Price Gray, Benjamin Price and James Price.

A gathering of family friends will be held at the Faith Life Worship Center on Sunday, March 8, 2020 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. A celebration of life will be held on Monday, March 9, also at the Faith Life Worship Center at 2:00 PM, followed by a reception in the church. All are invited as we celebrate the beautiful life of Rose Scarborough. A private burial will take place at the Scarborough family cemetery.
