College of The Albemarle (COA) hosted a reception at Sanctuary Vineyards in Jarvisburg on Thursday, March 5, giving community members the opportunity to meet COA’s new president, Dr. Jack Bagwell.

The reception served as a follow-up event to the tour of Currituck County businesses that was coordinated in January. The tour allowed Dr. Bagwell to travel through the area, meet with business owners and discuss future opportunities for COA and its students.

Paul O’Neal, COA Board of Trustees member, provided the introduction at the reception. Dr. Bagwell spoke about his time at COA thus far and thanked those in attendance for their support of the college. Student speaker, Dana Weeks, is currently enrolled in the Computer-Aided Drafting Technology program at COA-Currituck. In her remarks, she shared why she decided to go back to school and her experience in the program at COA.
