A submarine training target washed up on the beach on the afternoon of March 23. The 1,000 lb. target was not dangerous – it was filled with concrete. The Kill Devil Hills Fire Department and Public Services Department assisted the Navy in collecting the device on March 24. The Navy will be taking the device back to its headquarters to clean it up. Once it’s cleaned up, they should be able to determine exactly where it originated.
