(Dare County)

The number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in our country and in the state of North Carolina continues to grow. The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services currently is reporting 636 cases in 57 counties, with one fatality. Yesterday, Dare County announced the first positive test result in Dare County. Public Health staff has worked with the individual to identify and notify any close contacts. All identified close contacts have been notified.

The Dare County Control Group continues to meet daily to receive updated information, discuss and closely monitor the spread of the disease. This includes discussion and planning for coordinated efforts with state and federal partners, including NC Emergency Management, NC DHHS and the Governor’s Office, to ensure Dare County is as prepared as possible to protect the safety, welfare and health of our community.

With each new day it becomes clear that this is a long-term response to a worldwide public health emergency. The continued guidance of staying at home as much as possible, limiting direct contact, other than to family members, and maintaining social distancing are the most effective measures to help reduce the spread of COVID-19.

These unprecedented times create stress, anxiety, fear, frustration, and financial hardship for many. A list of community resources is available for those impacted by COVID-19 at The list includes information on assistance programs from utility providers, small business loans, food resources and hotlines for seniors feeling isolated and lonely. Frequently asked questions are being updated regularly at

The Dare County COVID-19 Call Center is open daily from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. to help address your questions on testing, travel restrictions, and symptoms, and can be reached at 252.475.5008.

Where are all the hateful full timers and their comments? One case and they all ran to their underground bunkers?

It is very important to all people that we know details of potential contact with infections. Since HIPA prevents a lot of that, we have to trust you. I, for one, think you will lie up to it. I can’t say that for the feds.

My county still has zero cases, since Dare has one now I want all Dare residents to stay away. Your county is a threat to others where there still aren’t any cases.

We should be told what town of Dare county they are quarantined in , so as to determine what groceries / convenient stores / drug stores they likely used . The word on “the street “ is that they are in NYers in Duck , and as every carpenter and construction guy around here stops at the Duck handee Hugo , it would be helpful to know if this rumor is true . Personally I feel our LOCAL leaders failed us on this , we where told non resident property owners would have to jump through a lot of hoops to be admitted to come into Dare or to stay , but if you are in and around Duck / KH / mainland Dare you see a LOT of out of state plates , especially of the states where the pandemic has exploded ! Florida , the Entire State has a shelter in place for 2 weeks order for anyone from NY/NJ /or Conn , Hawaii has 1 in place for All non Hawaii residents , tourist Mecca Disneyland is closed …makes sense for tourist destinations such as Florida/ Hawaii/ Disney , as it does for the OBX etc .

Just look for the Deputy at the end of a driveway. Ready to shoot a homeowner. North of Rodanthe, in a town called Malice.

Lowe’s is sold out of pitchforks and tiki torches. Because some paranoid people will call for that.

    Mind our own business…
