Nancy Vanderhoof, Patient Scheduling Coordinator in the Ambulatory Medical Unit, is The Outer Banks Hospital’s March, 2020 Employee of the Month. She started as a Patient Access Representative in Admissions in April of 2008.  In 2016, she made the move to the AMU where she has become an important member of the team.

Vanderhoof makes it her goal to be sure that every patient has the best experience possible while in the AMU. She values their time, tries to accommodate their schedules, and makes each patient feel special. She creates a therapeutic environment for the patients with their favorite music and beverage.

Always pleasant and thoughtful, Vanderhoof goes above and beyond to lend a helping hand. She identifies opportunities to assist others, to bring new ideas to the table, and does not hesitate to take care of tasks and responsibilities that need to be done. She ensures that each patient has all the information they need for care coordination, and she communicates effectively with her team about patient care.

Upon hearing that she had been chosen as the March Employee of the Month, Vanderhoof stated, “I was overwhelmed with the sincere words of appreciation and acknowledgement from the amazing staff I work with, they truly brighten my days.” She continued, “I am also grateful to be part of the OBH team and honored to work with an outstanding group of staff and patients that inspire me each and every day.”
