Dare County Schools (DCS) Superintendent John Farrelly has announced that because of a weather forecast that includes sustained winds of 35 mph and gusts potentially over 50 mph, the DCS’ free meal program will be suspended on Wednesday, April 1. Winds that powerful can pose a threat to the buses that deliver the meals. The DCS expects the program to resume on Thursday, April 2.

Makes sense… can’t hand out food if the winds blowing. Wouldn’t want to catch a styrofoam container with a mystery meat sandwich to the face at 50mph.
