Coastal Flood and High Surf Advisories are in effect for the northern Outer Banks and Hatteras Island. Water level rises could produce overwash on some roads, especially between Oregon Inlet and Rodanthe. Rough surf is also expected.

The Coastal Flood Advisory is in effect for 2 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday while the High Surf Advisory stretches from 2 a.m. Saturday to 6 p.m. Monday.

For the High Surf Advisory, large breaking waves of 8 to 12 feet are expected in the surf zone. For the Coastal Flood Advisory, up to 2 feet of inundation above ground level are expected in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways.

If travel is required, allow extra time as some roads may be closed. Do not drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth. Take the necessary actions to protect flood-prone property.
