April 30: COA to host Virtual Literary Festival

By on April 20, 2020

College of The Albemarle (COA) will host its 2nd Annual Literary Festival on Thursday, April 30, from 1:00-3:30 p.m. in a virtual capacity. The Literary Festival will be shared using Zoom, allowing COA students and the community the ability to celebrate writing while abiding by the “stay at home” order that is still in effect.

The schedule of events will begin with an introduction from Dr. Joshua Howell, Instructor of English at COA. There will then be two writing workshops followed by a performance called “Mark Twain Storytelling,” presented by Ryan Clemens. Clemens is an actor, director, playwright, teacher and Mark Twain enthusiast known for his one-man show, Meet Mark Twain. There will be a question and answer session immediately following the performance. The festival will conclude with readings from Estuaries, COA’s literary and visual arts annual publication.

“College of The Albemarle’s Annual Literary Festival will be held virtually this year,” shared Dr. Joshua Howell, Instructor of English at COA. “This means that you can attend our events from the comfort of your own home! Enjoy an afternoon filled with workshops, student readings and a performance by Ryan Clemens. This event is sure to be unique to the COA community, but we love being able to provide our students with the opportunity to engage an event safely.”
