Born in Bedford County, PA on May 15, 1930, he was the son of the late Edna Leighty Horton and Cloyd Albert Horton. A United States Air Force veteran, Gene served his country honorably in the Korean War. He would then begin a career with United Telephone Company retiring as superintendent.
Gene is survived by two daughters, Cathy Halbleib (Byron) of Lenoir, NC and Cindy Gross (Daniel) of Southern Shores, NC; two grandsons, three granddaughters, one great-granddaughter; and a brother, Gary Horton.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Koontz Horton; and a brother, Miles Horton.
Funeral services will be held in Mifflintown, PA. Burial will take place at Juniata Memorial Park in Lewistown, PA.
