On May 17, at 4:25 a.m., the Kill Devil Hills Fire Department responded to a report of a fully involved structure fire in the 200 block of Pine Grove Trail. Fire crews from Colington and Nags Head, along with the Kill Devil Hills Police Department and Dare County EMS, were also on scene and assisted in the operation. The fire was extinguished with extensive damage to the structure on the 1st floor and 2nd floor.
Unfortunately, the Kill Devil Hills Fire Department is reporting that there were two fatalities as a result of the fire.
The Kill Devil Hills Fire Marshal and Dare County Fire Marshal are investigating to determine the fire origin and cause.
