The National Weather Service is reporting that there is high rip current risk and a high surf advisory at all Outer Banks beaches today. High rip current risk means that there will be powerful or numerous rip currents and everyone should stay out of the ocean.

This morning, NCDOT says that while the road is currently open and passable, there are many areas with overwash on NC12 from Oregon Inlet to Hatteras. No breaches of protective dunes and no damage to road. Crews will work on clearing sand and debris. For real-time updates go to  DriveNC.gov or follow us here.
