Beginning at 5 p.m. on Friday, May 22, North Carolina restaurants were allowed to re-open for in-dining service at 50% of capacity and with a series of cleaning and social distancing guidelines. Our photographer, Ed Mullins visited five local restaurants to capture how they were adapting to the new rules and recommendations for hosting diners in a pandemic — uncharted territory for everyone involved.

I applaud the local restaurants for adapting to this unprecedented situation. We will continue to support you weekly. Patrons, make sure you tip the staff generously, thank them for their service and obey their guidelines to keep everyone safe and so they can move forward from the 50% occupancy!

Normal, a phrase often used when observing the absurd. It is new but lets hope there is nothing normal about it.

So tired of the phrase “new normal” I could vomit. Please STOP! It’s only normal if you believe all the misinformation that has been spread from the start. OBX will return to real normal soon, this is just another hiccup.

Someone actually came up with a 5 PM opening on the 22 of MAY.It is apparent that we are being controlled by a bunch of idiots.I wonder how long they took to come up with this random number and what science they used to back up there decision.50% occupancy good luck.
