(Dare County)

On June 4, Dare County reported its 25th positive case of COVID-19, the third new case to be reported in the past three days. To this point, there has been no additional information disseminated about the last two cases.  But according to the data dashboard on the Dare County website, https://www.darenc.com/departments/health-human-services/coronavirus the latest case appears to involve someone who is a county resident and is isolating at home.

Currently 19 of the infected individuals have been Dare County residents while 6 have been non-residents. Additionally, 10 those have been men and 15 have been women. The largest group of cases (9) have affected relatively young people, those in the 25-49 age group. Of the 25 cases, 1 resulted in a death.

Less than 3 weeks after opening Dare County to the tourists we see 3 new cases in 3 days after a prolonged period of no new cases. Right on time….2 weeks for the virus to incubate, another few days for testing. Co-incidence? I don’t believe in co-incidence.
Let’s hope that this trend does not continue or worse, it spikes.

Hey, for most of the Northern states our visitors are from, a COVID case count @ 25 would be considered a rounding error.
    Let the party begin.

Do they really worry about Covid or is it just to get your vote.

Trashcan man……really? Still going with this nonsense? I think it is officially time for you to build a bunker somewhere in the wilderness to hide from all of the dangers out there…..butterflies, shadows, puppies and light breezes……

Really?…. you’re repeating the same line every amateur epidemiologist said back in January and February. “Oh it’s just a few cases, more people die from the flu every year.” And now we’re sitting at over 100,000 dead nationwide. Let’s wait a few weeks and see where Dare County’s at now that we’ve got outsiders bringing in the disease again and things are opening back up.

Has anyone else noticed that the “visitors” are not wearing masks or social distancing at Walmart or Harris Teeter? And you know they don’t wash.

As an Illinois Mom who’s been coming here for 30 years and is grateful to you opening your doors to us….I’m appalled at the fact that people are not wearing face masks and not socially distancing at the grocery store or even the restaurants where we are picking up takeout. We are here for a second week now and this crowd seems to be even worse than last week. I am SO sorry that people aren’t treating this beautiful place with the care and kindness that they should. You wear a mask for others. You wear a mask because you do not know if you are asymptomatic. You wear a mask to save someone’s grandmother, someone’s friend with cancer, the child with underlying conditions. It really isn’t that hard to do. Soooo wish there were signs on businesses to wear a mask, and arrows for one way traffic in the grocery stores like we have back home. Definitely not helping me the apathy here.
