Today’s coronavirus numbers – June 4

What’s new today: New tests jump by more than 19,000; new cases increase by nearly 1,200.

  • Reported NC cases – 31,966 (up 1,189 from yesterday)
  • Reported NC deaths – 960
  • Currently hospitalized – 659
  • Patients Presumed to be recovered – 18,860
  • NC county with most cases– Mecklenburg (4,842)
  • Reported cases in Dare, Currituck and Hyde Counties – 42 (Dare 25, Currituck 15, Hyde 2)
  • Completed tests – 468,302
  • % of cases by age group – 0-17 (7%), 18-24 (10%), 25-49 (45%), 50-64 (22%), 65+ (17%)
  • % of cases by gender – female (51%), male (49%)
  • Number of cases in NC congregate living facilities (nursing homes, residential care facilities, correctional facilities) – 5,683
  • Number of empty hospital beds in NC – 3,750 out of 17,805 total
  • Number of empty ICU hospital beds in NC – 477 out of 3,223 total
  • Number or ventilators currently in use in NC hospitals – 810 out of 3,082 total

Note: Every morning, the NC Department of Health and Human Services posts updates the number of reported cases of coronavirus. That number reflects positive results from all tests, including the NC State Laboratory of Public Health and all hospital and commercial labs. There may be other reports, from the media and elsewhere, that will include different numbers during a given day, but this is an effective way of tracking numbers from the same source on a day-to-day basis.
