National Park Service issues Request for Proposals to lease Avon Fishing Pier

By on June 8, 2020

Cape Hatteras National Seashore (Seashore) is pleased to announce the opportunity for interested parties to submit proposals to lease Avon Fishing Pier.

Avon Fishing Pier is located on Seashore beach property adjacent to 41001 NC-12, Avon, NC 27915. The Pier was constructed and first operated in 1964. The lease premises consist of a pier house, which is approximately 2,213 square feet in size and the wooden fishing pier, which is approximately 666 feet long. Seashore property in this area is limited to the ocean beach.

The lease premises do not have or include an access road, parking area, or septic system. Applicants to the Request for Proposals must provide their plans for providing visitor access to the premises, as well as plans to provide any support facilities they determine to be necessary for pier operations.

The National Park Service seeks a lessee for Avon Fishing Pier in order to:

  • Enable continued use of the Lease Premises for pier fishing and associated services; and
  • Provide regular maintenance and upkeep of the Lease Premises, including both the pier and pier house.

The Request for Proposals, open June 8 – August 7, 2020, is available at https://nps.gov/caha/getinvolved/leasing.htm.

Might as well tear it down !!!!
I’ve checked it doesnt even include the parking lot or access road, even the septic tank…..They are owned by someone else !!!
The only customer base is the rental houses/locals !
What little profit if any thats made will be swallowed up by upkeep and I’m sure the owners of the parking lot will what a lease drawn up too.
And I’m betting insurance will be on the head of the new operators !
Its plain to see that if it was turning a decent profit the park service wouldnt be so quick of putting the burden on someone else.
