Bridger Catfish Newman is a cat with over 2,500 Facebook followers. He was also the kitten that was thrown from a speeding car and off the Mann’s Harbor Bridge in May of 2017. Reece Newman, a NCDOT diver, just happened to be in the right place at the right time- inspecting the pilings of that very same bridge. Reece saw something land in the water and managed to rescue the sopping wet kitten. He ultimately adopted the kitten and teamed up with his friend, local author Jeremy Bliven, to tell the story in their book, Bridger.
The book released last December and in two weeks became an instant best-seller- in fact, it became the number one book for 2019 at Downtown Books in Manteo. Downtown Books is holding a socially distanced signing- masks required!- this Friday, June 26 from 10am to 12pm. Don’t miss this opportunity to get a personalized copy of Bridger, the little kitten- and book! -that could! Downtown Books is located at 103 Sir Walter Raleigh Street in Downtown Manteo.
