Two Frisco restaurants close after employees test positive for COVID-19

UPDATE: Both Frisco Sandwich Company and  Quarterdeck Restaurant & Bar have reopened.

Two restaurants on Hatteras Island have temporarily closed after an employee tested positive for COVID-19 — the Quarterdeck Restaurant & Bar and the Frisco Sandwich Company.

In a Facebook post from June 25, the Quarterdeck Restaurant & Bar in Frisco reported that, “I would like to share that at least one of our employees has tested positive thus far. We still have several tests that have not come back yet…I am so glad we stopped, closed, and got tested before we were even notified, so scary! Remember, because you can, doesn’t mean you should. Please be careful and look out for one another!

I am so thankful for all of your support thus far as we take the time to try and keep our staff, community, and customers healthy. We will unfortunately be closed until further notice. Together we can get through this! ”

Also on June 25, the Frisco Sandwich Company posted similar news.

“We feel obligated to inform our customers and our community that one of our staff members has tested positive for COVID19. Although we are all symptom free, we will be closed until the rest of us are tested. Please Stay Safe.”

There has been a significant increase in recent COVID-19 cases reported in Dare County, with 9 new cases on June 25 and 29 new cases in the past five days.

Here we go! Nine new cases yesterday, and the number keeps going up every day. Now two restaurants have had to close because of infected employees. How many workers at other restaurants, and various businesses have the virus, but don’t know it? Or may know they are not feeling well, but will not tell their employer because they need to earn some money.
The CDC now estimates the actual number of cases of COVID -19 are 10 times what we know of, or have been diagnosed. A lot of people are asymptomatic, or have very mild symptoms. But these people can spread the virus to other people, many of whom will get seriously ill, or potentially die.
Come on people, WEAR A MASK, and try to social distance! I do not understand what the problem is with these people who refuse to wear a mask, or do anything to mitigate the spread of the virus. Dare County probably could have opened up somewhat safely, if everyone had tried to cooperate and do the right thing. Now it may be to late for that. There are still a lot of people out there not wearing masks when they should be, and a lot of businesses that will not insist on ” no mask, no service”. But they will insist on “no shoes, no shirt, no service”. Explain that to me.
I applaud the Dare County Control Group for trying to manage this they best they know how. But it doesn’t look like it is working. Dare County is headed for serious trouble. Something stronger is needed, and quick.
And Currituck County presses ahead with it’s plans for a 4th of July fireworks celebration, not requiring the wearing masks to attend. That is going to help a lot. Hang on folks, we are in for a bumpy ride, or worse! Economic disaster?

Good that these businesses acted responsibly. Just wait until July and the numbers begin to peak.

Commend these business owners, great job of doing the right thing.
I don’t make it down to Frisco during the summer but I will place an order to be donated when they reopen. Again Great job!!

Hopefully some Dare county restaurant owners north of the bridge will take notice because there are some restaurant owners who have told their staff that they are Not to tell anyone if they get sick or test positive. Yep it is true! Unbelievable and highly unethical but true.

Community spread was planned and accepted, we knew it would happen due to the actions of Dare County.

    Time to evacuate!
