Some pictures from a July 11 morning walk on the Roanoke Trail in Nags Head Woods. The black snake was right beside the trail relaxing about 20 yards from Old Nags Head Road. Walking back to the parking lot, there must have been something just off the road that attracted the attention of a wake of turkey vultures. They took off when I got close. One of them stopped to pose for a few pictures.
