9 new cases in Dare, Hyde to hold testing event

Dare County reported 9 new cases of COVID-19 on the evening of July 13, bringing the total to 215 cases since the outset of the pandemic. Six of the cases involved Dare County residents, all of whom are isolating at home. The three non-residents who tested positive have been transferred to their home counties to isolate.

Five of the nine individuals are under 25, two are between 25-49 and two are 65 or older. In the past two days, six new cases have affected people 65 or older, an age group that had largely avoided the brunt of infections here.

Dare County also announced that in total, 13 more residents and 11 more non-residents are now deemed recovered. Out of the 215 cases reported here, 130 are now categorized as recovered or asymptomatically cleared.

Hyde County to hold mass testing event

Hyde County, which as of July 13 has reported 33 overall cases of COVID-19, is holding a drive-through mass testing event on Wednesday, July 15 in the parking lot of the Mattamuskeet Early College High School in Swan Quarter. Appointments are required and those interested are asked to call the Hyde County Health Department at 252-926-4399.
