Heavy rains cause Nags Head drainage issues

By on July 27, 2020

Town of Nags Head, NC

Beginning late yesterday afternoon through mid-evening the Town recorded up to five inches of rain in the area between Jockey’s Ridge to just south of Whalebone Junction. This intense rain event has caused the town’s drainage system in this area to become overwhelmed in isolated areas.

We have crews out checking on the drainage system and performing maintenance as necessary to ensure that the rainwater can be drained out properly. Please drive slowly and use caution when driving through areas of standing water. It may take some time for the system to catch up so please be patient.
