Carla Musick Barr has started a GoFundMe campaign to help the family of her cousin, LeeAnn Fletcher, whose death last week is the subject on an ongoing police investigation.
On July 27, responding to the level of public interest and discussion about the criminal probe, the Kitty Hawk Police Department asked that “all those who are concerned please be patient” while the investigation is being conducted. Below are excerpts from the appeal on GoFundMe page, which is titled #justiceforleean. The Voice was unsuccessful in attempting to reach Carla Musick Barr for additional comment.
“LeeAnn was tragically taken at the tender age of 38, just days before her 39th birthday… leaving behind two children ages 14 and 5 years old. The purpose of this page is to help raise money to assist in the financial hardships ahead that the family will be facing due to her untimely death.
On Wednesday, July 22, LeeAnn was found unconscious in her home. She was flown to Norfolk General hospital where she underwent extensive surgery and was in a coma until succumbing to her injuries Saturday.
“We’ve started this GoFundMe page to help with the overwhelming medical bills, funeral costs, and remaining amount will go into a trust fund for her children. We want to give Leeann the memorial service she deserves to honor her memory and say our last goodbyes. This will go a long way to assisting the family in managing this overwhelming situation and hopefully relieve some stress while they focus 100% of their energy into all that comes next.
Please consider donating, as any amount will truly help our family during this difficult time. Donations can also be mailed directly to LeeAnn’s mother Maryann Fletcher @ PO Box 293 Kitty Hawk, NC 27949.”
