Cedar Island and Swan Quarter routes are still on a one-boat schedule due to shoaling. Shoaling in Bigfoot Slough outside of Ocracoke’s Silver Lake Terminal continues with the passage of Hurricane Isaias this week, forcing the N.C. Ferry Division to immediately adopt a one-boat schedule on Pamlico Sound until the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers can complete dredging operations.
In order to ease travel to and from Ocracoke Island this upcoming weekend, the N.C. Ferry System will be adding a night run to and from Swan Quarter Saturday and Sunday only.
The routes will resume their regular one-boat-schedule on Aug. 10. The one-boat schedule will remain in place until a dredging operation can be completed in Bigfoot Slough.
Due to COVID-19 concerns, the North Carolina Ferry System is operating a reduced schedule on all routes. Visit Ferry Division for updates.
