U.S. Coast Guard Station Hatteras Inlet

On the 19th anniversary of 9/11, this message was posted on Facebook by the U.S. Coast Guard Station Hatteras.

Nineteen years ago our nation was brought to her knees by a series of cowardly attacks. We as a nation have vowed we will never forget the horrific events that transpired and everything that followed it.

Today we took a remembrance walk led by our local firefighters to honor those innocent people who’s lives were tragically extinguished. We also remembered those first responders who bravely heeded the call and made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

Local first responders and members of our station walked to the Hatteras Lighthouse where we held a moment of silence at 08:46 AM. This marked the moment when American Airlines Flight 11 crashed into the North Tower of the World Trade Center.
