State closing in on 200,000 COVID-19 cases

The state of North Carolina reported 1,333 new cases of COVID-19 on Sept. 20. Dare County reported no new cases on Sept. 20. Since the beginning of the outbreak, the state has reported 193,581 cases and could surpass 200,000 in the next week. The total cases reported in Dare County since March is holding steady at 513.

  • Reported NC cases – 193,581 (up 1,363 from yesterday)
  • Reported NC deaths – 3,243
  • Currently hospitalized – 889
  • Suspected COVID-19 cases hospitalized in past 24 hours – 334 (down 26 from yesterday)
  • Confirmed COVID-19 case hospitalized in past 24 hours – 110 (down 2 from yesterday)
  • Adults in ICU with COVID-19 – 292 (down 1 from yesterday)
  • Patients presumed to be recovered – 167,257   
  • Reported cases in Dare, Currituck and Hyde Counties – 803 (Dare 513, Currituck 166, Hyde 124)
  • Completed tests – 2,804,818

Note: Every morning, the NC Department of Health and Human Services posts updates o number of reported cases of coronavirus. That number reflects positive results from all tests, including the NC State Laboratory of Public Health and all hospital and commercial labs. There may be other reports, from the media and elsewhere, that will include different numbers during a given day, but this is an effective way of tracking numbers from the same source on a day-to-day basis.
