So, yes, there is actually a “Tank of the Year” contest that is being run by Tnemec, a company headquartered in Kansas City that specializes in protecting surfaces and structures from corrosion with high-performance coatings and linings.

Like any proud chief executive, Kill Devil Hill Mayor Ben Sproul took to social media last night to post this message urging town residents to support the new water tower before voting that ends next week. And if it’s any motivation, the town’s entry is not listed among the top 5 vote getters at this point.

Vote KDH Water Tower for “Tank of the Year”!

Voting ends October 16! Let’s win this thing!

With no disrespect intended to KDH’s fine facility, that Destin FL tank is pretty cool.

The view from the top of these tanks can be pretty amazing.

Real paintings around the top of all the elevated water tanks in the county would be a real Treat! Just imagine Duck: a Mallard, a Wood Duck, a Bufflehead, and a Donald. OK, aside from that, let’s see some suggestions!

Hi. I used to call on Tnemec in the early 90s. They told me that their corporate name is “cement” spelled backwards, where they got their start decades ago. Glad to hear they’re still in business and successfully supplying industrial coatings.
