According to this Facebook post from Dare County Board of Elections Chair Sandy Semans, the pace of early voting has been very brisk, and we appear on course to set a record. As of Oct. 23, close to half the eligible voters had already cast their ballots.

“As of 7:30 last night when the polls closed, 12,900 votes have been cast. There are 29,910 registered voters in Dare County. That translates into a more than 43 percent turnout thus far with 7 Early Voting days left and more absentee ballots to approve. The total turnout was about 67 percent in the 2016 presidential election. Looks like we will set all-time record. Remember that the polls are open until 6 p.m. today, Saturday, Oct 23.”
