Family collected $4,000 and 1499 lbs. of food

On Dec. 9, the Voice featured a profile of the Mennicucci Christmas house at 206 Clamshell Drive in Kill Devil Hills, a special attraction used to help collect food and donations for the Beach Food Pantry.

On Jan. 1, Deborah Hibschman Mennicucci posted this update on her Facebook page. The bottom line—an incredible record-setting display of generosity.

“I’m not even sure where to begin. This has been the BEST year we have ever had at our Christmas light display. We broke every one of any records we ever had! Last year, we had 1206 cars drive by and they donated $1182 and almost 700 lbs of food and that was huge for us. This year, donations were coming in so fast, that we had to bring everything to the Beach Food Pantry in the middle of December, just to be sure we had room for the rest of the donations. And we are so excited that we got a donation every single night, from Thanksgiving until New Year’s Eve!!

In a year filled with sadness, I am Honored to report that we officially live in THE BEST Community. This year, we had 2502 cars drive by, that generously donated $4000 and 1499 lbs of food. Yes, you read that right!!! We turned in $4000 and 1499 lbs!! To give you a better perspective of how your donation breaks down…YOU provided a total of 9582 meals that will feed 228 people, 3 meals a day, for an entire month!!!!

Although my fabulous husband works incredibly hard to set up and take down the display, all while working to provide for his family, it’s really YOU who deserve the praise for the donations we collected! We just provide a fun and festive place for YOU to be so generous!

We would like to say THANK YOU!!! We also need to send big Thanks to OBX Today and their Tacky Light Tour…Outer Banks Voice for their article…First Flight High School for their article…WAVY and Katie Collett for their news story and article…and Thank You to everyone who shared a post, article, or just mentioned it to a friend! It’s because of all these things that the Beach Food Pantry was so Blessed!!

Happy New Year, friends! The Mennicucci Family sends all of you love and prayers for the upcoming year.
