The Outer Banks Seafood Festival Board of Directors announced on Jan. 27 that the 2021 Chowder Banks Fest planned for April 24 has been cancelled. With the need to continue to keep the safety and health of attendees, volunteers and staff uppermost in mind, as well as the many unknowns regarding crowd gatherings, it was with much disappointment that this decision had to be made.
“Our desire was to bring a Spring event to compliment the fall Outer Banks Seafood Festival, however with the continued need for social distancing due to COVID-19, we didn’t feel we could provide the event in a manner that would be safe for all involved with the festival as well as the attendees while trying to be compliant with the state protocol for large gatherings.” said 2020 Outer Banks Seafood Festival Chair Richard Hess.
The 2021 Outer Banks Seafood Festival is being planned for October 16, 2021 at the Soundside Event Site in Nags Head. With an average of over 9,000 attendees this event is the largest single-day event in the community. The 2021 event will be held the weekend of October 16th, visit outerbankseafoodfestioval.org for information and updates.
