This February celebrate Black History Month, help the Dare Minority Coalition and support a local independent bookstore all at the same place! Downtown Books and the DMC have partnered up on a Black History Month fund-raiser. Jamie Anderson, owner of Downtown Books, and George Carver, Executive Director of the Coalition, have curated a great selection of book lists on the Downtown Books Bookshop.org affiliate page! For every age and interest, there is a book waiting! Books for babies and toddlers, every school grade, adult readers.. books on Black history, memoirs, novels, an entire list concentrating on race matters and more. Two cornerstones of the Downtown Book’s manifesto are ‘putting the right books in the right hands at the right time’ and ‘making our community a better place’.

To that end,  half of the store’s profit from ALL online sales at Bookshop.org/shop/downtownbooks– for the entire month of February- will be donated to the Dare Minority Coalition. So, if you’re gonna buy books online, shop small and help support Black History month, a great local cause and Downtown Books, twice voted Best Bookstore on the Beach.

Downtown Books is located at 103 Sir Walter Raleigh Street, Manteo.
