The town of Nags Head has issued a warning for the evening of Feb. 19 that recent rainfall over the past several days has created hazardous roadway conditions in several low-lying areas throughout Town.

Ponded rainwater was observed on S. Old Oregon Inlet Road in the proximity of the 8400 block through 8600 block (Milepost 17.5) and 9300 block through 9600 block (Milepost 19).

Rainfall-runoff has also accumulated in several areas along S. Virginia Dare Trail near the intersection of Dune St. (Milepost 13) and near Curlew St. (Milepost 12). We ask that motorists exercise caution this evening when traveling in these sections of Town.

Given current development, it NOW only takes 2 inches or less of rain to cause nasty problems in the roads, sidewalks and private property in the subject area……. The town of Nags Head was able to quarterback a 36 million dollar response for the first local beach nourishment project , that sand is all gone now.
